Sure, there were replacement parts; but that piece is not one, JMHO.
Looks "home made", a replacement by the mfg would look just like the original, just without a number; and likely most of them were numbered when replaced.

The take down lever and side plate "fit" each other in two places and directions, and are not interchangeable without fitting in most cases

Not likely a casting, it is constructed of at least 2 parts, IMO.
One can see the shadow of the cylindrical part that is present in the "arm".

Inside the take down lever hole there is a very small U shaped part that I assume holds the lever in place. Mine is well worn and doesn't hold the lever in place. Where can I get a replacement part? Or, can I just tweak it?

Yes, tweak it by bending it up a little.
You can get a replacement from Lugerdoc on these boards; or from Sarco- which may or may not fit and may also break- I've had some that worked ok and one that broke due to poor hardening.

The lever retainer/spring is just that- a spring and will lose its tension and also wear.
