    Default DUO with AKAH logo

Pictured here is the DUO pistol # 25155, dated 41 ( 1941) with „F,Dusek, Opotschno" marking. DUO is the abbreviation for Dusek, Opocno. ( Opotschno is the German spelling of Opocno ).

This factory, the largest private gun factory in Czechoslovakia befor WWII, cooporated with the German occupation forces, but without the technical designer F.Dusek, who refused to cooperate.
The production encreased throughout the war and over 110 000 DUO pistols were made. These pistols were very popular with the Germans.

Note the " shooting man " trademark of AKAH on the trigger guard.

After nationalization in 1948 the production was transferred to the Ceska Zbrojovka Factory in Uhersky Brod, but now under the new tradename " Z ".
In 1970 the external appearance was changed slightly. It seems, that this pistol is still in production.

Somewhat confusing is, that before 1938 Dusek produced this same pistol under changing tradenames like Ideal, Singer and Jaga.

An unmarked DUO holster, made from brown laminated vinyl and fiberboard ( Ersatzstoff ) except for the leather belt loop and closing strap.
Under the closing strap are parts of two unknown markings. Perhaps this are markings from the leather factory?

Once can quite clearly see the imprint of the DUO logo.

    Fritz,

My data shows that the switch in markings from the AUTOMAT. PISTOLE "DUO" CAL 6.35 slide marking to the CZ AUT. PISTOLE "DUO" R.6.35MM marking was in 1948. I have a rather large serial number gap at the switch. As of now the High serial number I have found with the AUTOMAT. PISTOLE "DUO" CAL 6.35 is 119466 and it is dated 47, the first serial number I have with the CZ AUT. PISTOLE "DUO" R.6.35MM slide legend is 161917 and it is dated 48. The first Z AUT. PISTOLE R.6.35 mm slide legend appears in 1950 with serial number 185727, the last CZ AUT. PISTOLE "DUO" R.6.35MM slide legend I have data in is also dated 1950, 181961. So I can safely say that the transition to the Z was in 1950. As a side note the nearest serial number to yours that I have data on is also an AKAH marked pistol. The odd thing it that the marking is on the right side rear of the slide instead of the trigger web like yours.
