    1935 S/42 G my grips are numbers with the last two digit LH with:B39 and RH39 form the serial number DSCN0052.jpg

    I have a 1936 S/42 i block with matching grips - small font size, last 2 digits. Don't have pics available. Greg

    I do own the book. the Mauser Parabellum 1930 1946
    I have examined at least a dozen 1936 S/42 Mauser Lugers
    None have #ed grips.
    Why would Mauser have gone from the larger grip # and weird font for K date and G date Original #'s Back to the small # of the DWM or Erfurt?

    Mike who knows why they done what they done but I guess it is what it is. As for examining a dozen 36 S/42 guns I feel it is not something that I would traw a conclusion from considering the total 1936 production run specially since the numbered gribs are to be just few.
