Default What's Going On???

I assumed that registering for GUNBOARDS, would allow me into all Gunboards listings???? I use the Gunboards Luger site at least twice a day, but when I journey off to 98K, or spanish pistol boards.... I am rejected and my user name and or password is always taken or incorrect...... Can you help???? Thanks Henri

Henri,

Sounds like a cookie problem. It is possible to stay logged in, by checking the 'remember me' tab during login. This will create a small file (cookie) on your PC which will be called when you revisit the site. On some PC's (public, work, etc..) this feature is sometimes disabled. I wander on or off on all sorts of sites and normally never have to log in.

no, its a SERVER problem.

Gunboards.com is one site and we are completly seperate, it allows Jan and I to be admins, rather than moderators.

You've got to be registered on BOTH boards.

Yeah, especially after the teething pains with the main Gunboards forums going to a new version of VBulletin.

Right now (2314 EST on 6 January 2009), forums.gunboards.com is not responding at all

I don't like the radical change of the new gunboards either. I am unsure if they will make this board the same; as the upgrade was due to a security issue / patch. I am guessing it looks so different because we were behind several versions?

Ed I was surprised to see that the two sites are even on different servers and neither is located on the gunboards domain server. The only downside to being on the shared servers with the c-panel control is sometimes you find yourself on a server with another site that may have peak times and causes slow service or another site on the server can get hit with a dos and all the sites suffer.

My only question is does your host do your sql backups or do you use rsync and keep your own copies? I can tell you from personal experience that keeping your own copies is a good idea even if your host keeps one copy. IMHO.
