Reading Jan C. Still's original Aug. 2003 post,he writes that in 1910 the Springfield Armory repaired 321 Lugers and in 1911 Rock Island Armory repaired 306 Lugers. Would Springfield or Rock Island place any proof/repair/test marks on the Lugers that went through their Armories?
At last! With the help of George Anderson, I have acheived 3 goals in one swipe. I have a 1900, and a Americal Eagle, and a Test Eagle to boot! S/N # 6764. Sadly it was reblued, but with hope, I know "THOR" will do his best to bring it's original look back. Thanks again George! Sorry for the poor pictures. I am still looking to find more 1900's, any American Eagles, that might have been reblued or otherwise do not fall into the collector ranks. Knowing I'll never afford true collector quaility Lugers of the era I've mentioned, finding and restoring (within reason) them to their original finish, though not completely original, will make a fine collection for me. So keep me in mind! Thanks,Bill William R Butcher ADCS USCG ret. Ossipee,NH |

Bill, not a bad goal, but buying a reblued one and then to restore will probably cost as much as buying a nice, but not pristine one anyway?

Ed,
Agreed, if I can find one, a original lesser grade collector Luger in 1900 or A.E. I see can still bring quite a sum, but thanks for the advice. Bill |

Not when George sells a reblued one.

Don't mess with more then it already have been. Theres a market for Your Eagle in any shape due to its rarety. But I would have Ted make it the absolute best. And if You don't fall in Love with it, sell it as a Ted restored premium. In the past few years both Ted and Jerry Burney precision and shere "Luger Artistic" flare has created an independent market all their own.
