One was offered on gunbroker recently:

It was professionally restored by Thor. Nice work indeed!

It interesting that the Persian C96 offered in gunbroker appears to have an original matching stock that is made of oak, an uncommon stock. The matching oak stocks that I have observed were associated with the late production red nine C96 that were not issued to military (no imperial proof ), frequently reworked, and presumably sold commercially .

However, this gunbroker Persian is also 9mm and therefore probably represents a re-chambered Persian that was not delivered as part of the contract .According to Erickson and Pate, “these undelivered [Persian] pistols were re-chambered and issued in the postwar Weimar period (1920-1934)”. This time of distribution would fit with the time that the undelivered (no imperial proof) late red nines were probably issued with their oak stocks.
Are these oak stocks characteristic for a post war period of C96 sales, when mauser was selling their leftover surplus pistols ? Any other observations of matching oak stocks with these or other C96 models?

I have seen a late 1930 in 912xxx with oak stock. The stock is Mauser, it has genuine "banner", but it's not period correct for the gun: (1) It has a 3-digit number on the tang; (2) The stock cover is relieved for NS hammer and safety level; (3) The tang/wood connection area is rounded, and (4) the cover release button is check. I would assume it's for transitional 1930 because every feature matches and that Late 1930 fits in perfectly (with universal safety level pushed up, otherwise, the cover cannot be closed). Unfortunately, it's not in my procession anymore.
