L. Gasser 1898?

Hello - I'm new at this, so please forgive me if I breach any etiquette, but my father-in-law gave me an L. Gasser 8-shot revolver, which appears identical to a Rast & Gasser 1898 model, but this one is stamped "L. Gasser" and not "Rast & Gasser". The serial number is 731, stamped in a couple of places (the barrel and the body for sure). There is another marking on top of the frame, but it's hard to read. I know - pictures would help tremendously, but I'm at work right now and the gun is at home. I'm trying to find some information and also get an idea what this particular gun might be worth, as the "L. Gasser" stamp seems to be somewhat more rare than the "Rast & Gasser" stamp. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
