A friend approached me with the request to identify the markings on a Steyr M.1912 pistol he had purchased for his collection. The pistol is a plain Austrian Army M.12 with a four digit serial with suffix (matching numbers) and is Wn16 proofed. Caliber is 9mm Steyr. He believes the stamp to be post WWI applied, most possibly by an Eastern European country. He had thought it might be the abbreviation for "Československá Horská Brigáda", but the Czech Army Museum denied this and told him it might be Bavarian - but also the Bavarian Army Museum denied it could be Bavarian.
