    What methods do folks around here use to remove whitening from stampings?

    toothbrush and gun oil - some folks use acetone

    Stiff tooth brush and WD-40 if the whitening is from a lacquer stick. If someone used paint then pick as much out as you can before using brush and WD-40.

    If you use white China Marker, you just need gun oil and a tissue.

    Difficult problem. Teenytiny barrel markings, tough white paint. Soaking in acetone for a day, flushing with WD40, scrubbing with hard bristle toothbrush did the trick. Thanks everybody for the help.
