A friend showed me last week a luger he acquired at some point. Here are the details:
1920 Receiver date, appears factory stamped and not a permission gun
Serial no. 8082 a
proofed right side, A r A 4
Front grip strap unit marked S. Sch. II. 494.
Externally it matched, with exception of the magazine
With sear safety
9mm
According to Stills, Weimar Lugers, page 14, 45000 produced.
So did this start out as a Police luger and later had the Prussian State Police markings and sear safety added? Any thoughts on the value of this in stated condition.
Thanks, Jeff
