Default AE With Holes in the Grips

I've been looking at a 1906 model American Eagle .30 caliber commercial Luger that has 4 holes in each grip panel. They are all the same size and appear to be screw holes.

The holes are not random but in a discernible pattern.

My question is this: Did anyone make a Luger stock or holster/stock that required screws to secure it to the gun? The Luger in question lacks a stock lug as 1906 models would.

I saw the same Luger and thought some termites had gotten to it. It had a lot of wear and I wondered if a previous owner had tried to rig up some type of stock for it also.

could be for the Ideal holster stock. Are the grips smooth, sans checkering?

The grips are checkered but well worn. The Ideal crossed my mind but I don't know enough about them to make a determination.

I have seen photos of Ideal grips that were checkered...but if they are Ideal there will be screws in the holes to attach them to the metal backing plates.

If it is made after 1918...it is a reproduction.
