I just bought a Mauser banner E/L police, 1941 small date, ser# 4789X. No ser# or gage on the barrel. All matching and in very nice condition. My concern is that in your older book, first edition, ser# 4789X should be in the 1940 date. I hope there is a reason for this. The dealer said he would take it back if its wrong. Thanks

    Jan,
Just purchased what I think is a somewhat rare 1941 police Mauser banner. Serial number is 9917x. Barrel has no serial but does have a gage mark. Also eagle L proof on the front sight base and above the serial on the left side of the receiver. The 1941 chamber date numbers are of the large variation. Finish is just about as nice as it gets. Slight wear on the forward edge of the frame rail, barrel and side plate. Grips are wood and look new. Incorrect mag. Hope this adds to your database,
