    Default G date variations

    G DATE (1935) LUGERS, VARIATIONS
There are a number of features on Mauser Army, police and Navy Lugers that can be used to determine variations. These are of varying importance. Chamber date (or code) and middle toggle link manufacturing code are the most significant. Others are right receiver acceptance stamps, test proofs, script or gothic S parts stamp, if straw or blued small parts, P.08 on right frame, sear safety police, N or 0 Navy property stamp, bevel on middle toggle link edges, if barrel gauge present, if small or large S in manufacturing code on middle toggle link, if P.08 has a square or round period, and serial number suffix (yes, I once knew a collector that claimed to be collecting based on serial number letter suffixes).
All G dates have a G over their chamber, S/42 on the middle toggle link (large S), military (exposed) style serial number placement, Early Test Proof (ETP) on the right receiver, and straw small parts. A very interesting aspect of G date Lugers is the array of right receiver acceptance stamps. Also, a small number are marked to the Navy or police.
The G date right receiver acceptance stamps are as follows:
B90-S91 ETP found in the approximate 500a-6200a serial range with overlap.
    Estimated production 4700.
B90-S92 ETP found in the approximate 4800a-8000a serial range with overlap. Estimated production 1000.
W154-S92 ETP found in the approximate 7000a-723d serial range with overlap. Note: 269d DE211 S92. Estimated production 23,000.
DE211-S92 ETP found in the approximate 269d-5272d serial range with overlap. Note: 4311d-4398d below. Estimated production 4800.
DE63-S92 ETP found in the approximate 4311d-4398d; 5462d-7422d serial range. Estimated production 3000.
DE63-DE63 ETP found in the approximate 8096d-6035f serial range with overlap. Estimated production 18000.
Total Production: 54,500 (includes Kriegsmarine and Police variations below)
KRIEGSMARINE VARIATIONS: N property number and E/M (2) or 0 property number. Mostly found in the d, e, and f suffix blocks. Note: 0 property number not shown. Approximately 700 Navy marked.
POLICE VARIATIONS: Sear safety installed by police armorers. Interspersed in the e and f suffix blocks. . Approximately 600 had the sear safety added.

Reasonable price, variety of acceptance stamps, Kriegsmarine or police markings on some, make the G date Luger a collectors collectable.

Comments, corrections, criticism, and additions welcome!
    Thanks

Very nice complete set of G dates. I'm pleased to see you finally found a G date with B90 S92 acceptance. I've noticed your WTB adds for quite a while. Thanks for showing.
