Default "n" vs "p" Luger Suffix Identification 1941

There has been a lot of confusion in trying to identify the "n" and "p" letter suffix in 1941. This is very understandable because the frame fonts are very similar and to top it off the magazine fonts do not completely match the frame font.
This issue is addressed in the book, "The Mauser Parabellum" on page 234. The authors conclude that while some 41 byf's have been reported in the "n" block, none have been verified. They feel that many guns that were reported as a "n" were really a "p" suffix.
Below are side by side pictures of two guns from 1941. Serial number 3513n is a 41-42 variation and Sn 3962p is a 41 byf variation. Both have matching magazines.
With this comparison the minor frame differences can be observed as well as the more noticeable magazine differences.
    I hope this helps!

It doesn't get any clearer than that, the tail on the p is obvious and the mag font is more pronounced. Great comparison. Thanks, Tom

Tharpo - I have one two off of yours... 3960P, byf41, it's a bringback minus the paperwork. Mine is all matching, minus the magazine which is a mismatch.

Well the mag is for sure a "p", but I can't decide about the frame- the photo angle is not very useful.
In the write up Simpson says it is an "n".

And the "list" price is pretty crazy at $7995(at least to me); it is sold but we still don't know the actual selling price.

The Simpson gun and mag both appear to be a "p" suffix to me.
    Have the following magazines for sale/trade - double-proofed (early) Erfurt #5634a, single-proofed Erfurt #4294d, DWM #3494+, blued fxo / E/37 #5709r, postwar Erma SS w/black plastic bottom.

It is a beautiful rig. Have never seen one better.

And, guys, yes, it is p-suffix. This is how I bought it years ago. And this is how it sits in my C&R system. But for some reason, they believe it is an n-suffix and could not be convinced otherwise. That's life. Not many p-suffix 41/42s around. That and its condition are why I bought it in the first place.
